Sending encrypted messages with Azure Information Protection

Note: These instructions assume you already have Azure Information Protection enabled on your Office 365 account.

Sending encrypted emails with Azure Information Protection is simple.

Sending encrypted messages using Outlook on Windows

  • Start a new email in Microsoft Outlook (your version of Outlook may look different to one shown in the screenshot)
  • Click the Permissions button in the ribbon menu (on some versions of Outlook this button may be labelled Encryption)
  • Choose the required level of encryption
  • That’s it!

Sending encrypted messages Outlook webmail (OWA)

  • Log into your Office 365 account using the web browser
  • Choose the Outlook app from the menu
  • Click new email
  • Click the protect button and choose the required level of permission
